Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Ernest Chin’s musical journey began under the guidance of his father, sparking a lifelong passion for the piano. He further refined his craft under the mentorship of distinguished teachers, including Miss Au Yang Yao Chih, Loo Bang Hean, and professors Constance Lee and Fan-Chiang Yi at the prestigious Taipei National University of the Arts. Notably, Ernest became the first international pianist to gain admission to this renowned institution.

In 2021, he founded EE Piano Studio in Singapore, which has since expanded to three branches. Ernest’s philosophy of balancing joy and discipline has created an inspiring environment where students develop both musical excellence and a lifelong love for music.
Building on the success of EE Piano Studio, Ernest co-founded Musekey Academy in Johor Bahru, collaborating with like-minded partners to bring high-quality music education to Malaysia. His work continues to inspire the next generation of musicians, leaving a lasting impact on the international music community.
From Taiwan to Singapore, my musical journey began at the age of five when I started learning the piano. By nine, I was accepted into a gifted music program, majoring in piano, violin, and viola. After more than a decade of rigorous training, I was admitted to the Music Department of the Taipei National University of the Arts. Along the way, I participated in numerous competitions, won multiple awards, and served as the concertmaster of orchestras. However, I eventually realized that my true passion lay in sharing music with others, leading me to embark on a teaching career.
I don’t want my students to play the piano just for the sake of exams. Instead, I want them to genuinely love music and develop the ability to read sheet music and play their favorite pieces on their own!
That’s why my teaching focuses on sight-reading and rhythm — I don’t push students into mindless finger drills that leave them frustrated. In addition to fundamental exercises, I incorporate pop songs, video game soundtracks, and anime music to connect music with their personal interests. This way, they enjoy learning while building a solid foundation!
If you’re looking for the perfect balance between rigorous training and a love for music, I’m the right teacher for you!
